As Orkney is surrounded by sea there is ample opportunity to take boat trips. Of local interest are the trips made by 'Verona' to both The Gloup and Copinsay.
There is loch and sea-fishing available. Seek details locally.
There are lovely unspoilt beaches here, typical of these are Dingieshowe, Newark Bay and Sandside Bay
The closest is Quoyburray Inn at Tankerness but there is also the Cafe at Kirkwall Airport which specialises in Orkney Produce.
For those who like sailing there are suitable anchorages at Deersound and Inganess Bay.
For children there are all year round facilities at Trim Trak (St Andrew's School) and Geo Slipway, Deerness.
